Tinka
Milinović: A Short Biography
Tinka Milinović was born in
Sarajevo in 1973, where she received primary
music education playing flute. In 1991, she moved
to the USA on her own, and in 1992 entered
Louisiana College to study Vocal Performance with
Dr. Loryn E. Frey. She graduated with honors as
Bachelor of Music in 1996, and continued to study
voice as a graduate teaching assistant in the
School of Music at the University of Louisiana,
the class of Margaret Daniel. In 1998 she
received her Master of Music degree in
Opera/Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. Tinka
graduated at the top of her class, both as a
scholar and a performer. Additionally, she
further trained her voice with the Metropolitan
Opera primadonna Martina Arroyo in New York.
She performed a great deal of roles in different
operas, musicals, and opera scenes. Apart from
these stage roles, Tinka also held solo concerts
and has collaborated with Acadiana Symphony
Orchestra and Sarajevo Philharmonics. She worked
as a private voice teacher, and as a personal
assistant to conductor Jonathan Sheffer in New
York.
Tinka has competed at the Bosnian national final
"Eurosong 2002" with the song "Sve
sto imas ti". She further went on to Tallinn
2002 as Maja Tatić's back-vocalist. She
successfully records commercials for television
and radio. Nowadays, besides being given her own
radio contact show “Tinka Show - No Offense”
on the biggest Bosnian national radio station (BH
Radio 1), and being the host of “TV Bingo
Show” on FTV, she also performs as a solo
artist with large repertoire of her original, as
well as jazz, cabaret, and classical music. She
stars as Sylva Varescu, the leading female role,
in "The Queen of Czardas" (operetta by
Emerich Kalman) at the National Opera in
Sarajevo. She is also working on her first
commercial solo album. She is an accomplished
freelance artist.
