The
final was held in the television studios of
PBSBiH without an audience present. The show was
very well done with an exceptionally relaxed
atmosphere where everybody seemed to have a lot
of fun. Due to the heavy snowstorms in Sarajevo
and indeed most of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
representatives of Slovenia and Serbia &
Montenegro, Omar Naber and "No Name,"
respectively, could not appear in the interval
act as scheduled. Instead, Seid Memić Vajta from
Eurovision 1981 stepped in and gave a good show.
The winner was decided by both an
"expert" jury and televoting, each
accounting for 50% of the final result. At the
end of the show, girls from "Feminnem"
received 20 points, the same number Tinka
Milinović did. However, as the jury gave Zovi
12 points and only 10 to Tinka, per rules,
"Feminnem" took away the victory. On
the stage they were joined by the songwriter
Andrej Babić, who is also known for writing
Claudia Beni's song Više nisam tvoja
from Eurovision 2003. The girls were very happy
and said that they were rather surprised, but are
honored to be chosen to represent Bosnia and
Herzegovina in Kiev.
What's left for us now is to wish the girls the
best of luck and hope they get us a good result!
The complete results:
1. "Feminnem" - 20 points
2. Tinka Milinović - 20 points
3. Igor Vukojević - 18 points
4. Marija Šestić - 13 points
5. Mija Martina - 10 points
6. "Unplugged Plug" - 8 points
7. Ružica Čavić - 7 points
8. Jasna Gospić - 5 points
9. "IF" - 4 points
10. Nikita - 3 points
11. "G.D.H." - 3 points
12. Nedim & Maja - 3 points
13. Lea Mijatović - 2 points

Interview with Tinka

The current undisputed
favorite among the public in BiH and beyond is
Tinka Milinović. Tinka is the young and
vivacious TV personality slash singer that burst
onto the scene with her first appearance on BH

1998 she graduated University of Louisiana and
got herself a degree as Master of Music, in Opera
and Vocal Performance. Tinka first came to United
States in 1991 shortly before war, as part of a

ended up staying. Ten years later, Tinka moved
back to Sarajevo, got a job at Federal TV with
the popular quiz show Bingo which made her into a
star.
This year, she was approched by Serge Bonheur ;)
to sing the song he sent to BH Eurosong. She
accepted and shortly after was invited to Germany
for a recording session. As she says, she enjoys
working with a team that respects such high world
standards and professional and ethical norms.

Tiny little details
Interval act, postcards,
Eurovision past
"Unofficial sources" say that the
organizers are preparing what sounds like a true
Eurovision nostalgia show this year. As part of
the introductions of each performer or group,
postcards are being filmed this week. Each of the
competitors is going to introduce themselves to
the audience and the jury by singing a known
Eurovision song from the contest's rich past.
Songs Chai and Diva are among the ones being
mentioned.
It is also fairly certain, though it has not been
confirmed by PBS, that the interval act this year
will be sole responsibility of Nicole of the Ein bißchen
Frieden fame. She won the contest in 1981
with this song of peace written by Ralph Siegel
and Bernd Meinunger. The same pair (or just
Siegel?) is also responsible for writing Tinka's
song this year, which is widely tipped as the
pre-competition favorite among the public.
The host of the show, or at least one of them,
will be Maja Tatić. We all know her for Na jastuku
za dvoje back in Tallinn. The news was
reported by "Svet," a tabloid from
Serbia.
In other unconfirmed news, following the public
premiere of the fourteen songs at a news
conference on February 28th, the songs will be
available on PBSBiH's site for download. There
are no news yet whether the broadcast will be
online or not.

Bosnian daily "Dnevni
avaz," February 15, 2005
Time for half-breeds, Tinka
says
Tinka
Milinović is
sincerelly hoping her third appearance at BH
Eurosong will be her third time lucky. The
compositions she will perform is called Sometimes
I Wish I Were A Child Again and according to Tinka it
is a stunning song.
"The composer of my song is a Eurovision
giant and I guess because of my notable
performances in Bosnian finals in 2002 and 2003 I
am highly regarded among the German OGAE fans.
This is an international organization of
Eurovision fans, and Germany has the highest
number of members in the world. At their yearly
concert in Berlin I performed in 2003 as the only
Bosnian artist, and I was also invited this year.
That's when the composer's assistant noticed me
and, as it were, good word of mouth is heard far.
This is where the cooperation came about."
"I am not competing just for the sake of it.
Every competition brings an understanding of the
person's hope to win. I am a big fighter and I
aim to win. I believe in myself, and the fact
that I am singing a wonderful song by one of the
most successful authors, who has sold over 30
million albums for SonyBMG, gives me even more
self-confidence and motivation. It is a huge
compliment that such an eminent team recognized
in me a cultured winner by which they decided to
stand, to support and to believe in," says
Tinka.
Invited by the composer and the producer of the
song, Milinović has recently spent a few days in
Munich. She recorded the song in the prestigious
Olympa studio.
"It is a great pleasure to work with a team
of people who respect world standards of show
business. Everything is subordinated to the
performer, the song, and of course the victory.
They don't even forget the little things like air
transportation, a wonderful welcome, hotel rooms,
dinners, going-outs, a personal driver, and not
to even speak of all that follows the job,"
points out Milinović.
On stage, Tinka will wear a creation by designer
Jasna Hadžimehmedović-Bekrić with whom she
collaborates with great satisfaction on the
"Bingo Show" as well as when her solo
performances are concerned.
Having in mind that the "national key"
is always linked to BH Eurosong, Tinka hopes that
her time has finally come.
"If this is one of the unwritten rules, I
sincerely hope that us "half-breeds"
will get a chance to win. I cannot wait for the
time when in this country the winners will be
Bosnians and Herzegovinians and not ethnicities
which live in it," says Tinka.

Official news
Lots of uknown names, Selma
Bajrami drops out
Project
manager of this year's BH Eurosong, Vesna Andree
Zaimović, has sent eurobosnia the list of all
the performers and their corresponding songs.
Most of the names known thus far through
unofficial sources have been confirmed by PBSBiH.
However, Selma Bajrami, due to obligations arranged
previously and reservations tied to the contract
with PBSBiH, is unable to perform Aleksandra
Kovač's song C'mon Boy so the author has decided
to withdraw it, citing lack of time to find
another singer. Also, the song Što ti još
treba is now titled Dar s neba. The
complete list of the 14 songs and performers is
as follows:
1. In This World - performed by Marija
Šestić
Marija is a very young and talented girl. She is
an unknown in Bosnia for the most part. She
competed in the song contest "Golden Star
2004" in the teenagers' section.
2. You're Gonna Get What You
Deserve -
performed by Slađana Mandić Nikita
Looks like this might be the same Slađa na that took part in BH
Eurosong 2002 with the song Kapije bola.
3. Groznica me trese zbog tebe - performed by "IF"
It was quite obvious from the get-go that
"IF" was going to perform this song.
They are a trio of young girls who sing a sort of
locally flavored dance pop. They took part in BH
Eurosong 2003 where they achieved the 10th place.
4. Baš me briga što će
mama reći
- performed by Lea Mijatović
Lea last time was in BH Eurosong 2003 where she
only managed to get to the 17th position, even
though the song was among the favorites at the
time. We look forward to her bettering her result
this year.
5. Everything She'll Do - performed by "Unplugged Plug"
These guys are a local band from Sarajevo that's
just now starting to get into their own. They
recently performed at the Tsunami benefit concert
"Ne zatvaraj oci" in Bosnia. Visit the
songwriter's websites here and here.
6. Čarolija - performed by Jasna
Gospić
Jasna was known for taking part in Jugovizija a
couple of times in the eighties and also for
being part of the legendary group
"Ambasadori."
7. Dar s neba - performed by Josip
Bilać
A relatively new name. Comes from Herzegovina and
has taken part in the Melodije Mostara festival a
few times. Visit his website to hear an excerpt
from a recent song.
8. Sometimes
I Wish I Were A Child Again - performed by Tinka
Milinović
So far the biggest name in the contest. She is a
hot favorite, as she is very popular with the
public, due to her hosting the quiz show
"Bingo" on Federal TV. This will be
Tinka's third time competing in BH Eurosong.
9. Zovi - performed by "Feminnem"
As previously reported, three young girls make up
this group. They all took part in the
"Croatian Idol" on Nova TV where they
made it to the top four. Their website is still
under construction, but you can hear their latest
song there.
10. Ružice rumena - performed by Mija
Martina
Mija Martina is of course well known to
everybody, having sung Bosnia's song in 2003 Ne
brini..
11. Jabuka - performed by Igor
Vukojević
This will be Igor's fourth attempt at winning BH
Eurosong. Last time, in 2003, he came very close,
having won the first round of voting, but
was then moved to the third place in the second
round. Is said to have a very strong song.
12. U očima - performed by Maja
Nurkić & Nedim Šuta
Maja and Nedim are both new names on the scene.
She has participated in the opening of the annual
cultural festival "Sarajevo Winter,"
while Nedim was a contestant on OBN TV's
SuperNova Music Talents reality show.
13. Ruža bez trna - performed by Ružica
Čavić
Ružica is a very well known name in the music
industry. She resides in Novi Sad, Serbia. In
2002, she co-wrote the Bosnian song Na
jastuku za dvoje and had previously competed
in BH Eurosong 2001, coming second with a strong
ballad.
14. No More - performed by "G.D.H."
Unfortunately, I have zero information on this
group and the song's author.

No "national key"
this year, says Vesna
Every year,
and so this year as well, BH Eurosong becomes a
subject of various speculation, but also
statements that turn out to be true. Will the
Bosnian representative be chosen according to the
national key again this year, we will see on
March 6th, as practice has proven, but which is
being negated by Vesna Andree Zaimović, the
project manager.
This year's selection is back to the old format,
where instead of one singer and several song, we
will see fifteen different performers with the
songs that have been shortlisted. According to
Vesna Andree Zaimović, the songs are of various
styles and most are written by Bosnian authors.
"Last year we promised to try, this year, to
create true festival event, and this is set to
happen. Also, it seems to me that conditions have
been met where many more authors and performers
are to appear, and to choose the best
songs."
Choosing the song this year is planned to be
decided 50% by the jury and 50% by telephone
votes of the viewers. Of course, given that the
system doesn't fall again, as it did in 2003.
In the public, there's been a lot of speculation
that, keeping with the national key, the winning
singer will be a Serb, so we asked Ms Andree
Zaimović to comment. She said:
"This is a mirror of the situation in our
society. I can say categorically, as the project
manager for the second year, and as an active
participant of BH Eurosong in the past four
years, that there was never any national key. All
it was was a set of circumstance and it really
did seem that the key was used. However, this is
not how it was. This year there will be no
national key. The best song will win, chosen by
the public and the jury, split equally. We do not
care at all what national group the performer or
the authors will come from."

Bosnian daily "Dnevni
avaz," January 22, 2005
Igor sounding very confident
After his song
made it onto the shortlist of songs at BH
Eurosong, Igor Vukojević has been spending his
free time to best prepare for his performance.
"Recently, all my time has been devoted to
BH Eurosong. Preparations are nearing their end.
The song is finished, what's left now is only to
mix it in a Belgrade studio which will be done
using the most contemporary equipment so that the
song sounds as perfect as possible."
The song is a mix of worldly sound and ethno
motifs with addition of bagpipes and šargija
(Bosnian string instrument). The backing vocals
are done by Leontina Vukomanović, while Igor is
the author of music and lyrics. "The song
has an ascending musical line, it's not fast or
slow. I've spent a lot of time on it. Special
attention was paid to the text, but the music was
not neglected, so that all put together makes one
fantastic unit."
When asked how the song got the name Jabuka
(Apple), he said that it refers to a girl as
beautiful as an apple. "I will pay special
attention to the performance and the look of all
those involved. Everything will look worldly, but
will still seem familiar. In accordance with
this, the song will be performed in
"our" language and I believe that
that's the only right way, because if we're to
represent our country, the song should be
performed in a language spoken in it."
Even though every time he has taken part he was
considered a favorite, victory seemed to slip
from his hands. For a while now, there's been
speculation that Igor is the winner of this
year's competition. "I wouldn't want to
comment on that. I am preparing as if I will win,
I am sure I have a great song which I will
perform the best way I can. I believe in 'Apple,'
and my performance, but that doesn't have to mean
anything. I am always for the best to win. If
somebody has a song that's stronger than mine and
performs it better, may they represent us in
Ukraine.

Rumor land
Mija Martina coming back;
Tinka's turn?
After the list of 15 songs was
published by the BH Eurosong 05 team last week,
several rumors concerning singers have been
making rounds in Bosnia. Some of the names
mentioned include the 2003 contestant Mija
Martina, who
is reportedly going to sing the song Ružice
rumena. Also in the running for the same
song is Lea Mijatović who was in BH Eurosong 2003 with
the song Ja sam se zaljubila--a
pre-contest favorite that failed to deliver due,
in large part, to Lea's nerves.
The eternally present singer-songwriter Igor
Vukojević--it
is almost 100% certain--is rumored (uhm, yeah) to
be singing his own song Jabuka. He is
also the current favorite, as ordinary citizens
of Bosnia believe that this time a Bosnian Serb
will be chosen to represent BiH (since 2003 was
represented by a Bosnian Croat and 2004 by a
Bosniak). Personally, I hope the country rises
above such silly appointments not at all based on
artists' talent, but their ethnicity. However,
Igor has been trying to represent Bosnia for
years now and is a talented songwriter and has a
good voice.
Tinka Milinović, who seems to have won
many a fan's hearts over is also rumored to be
taking part again, after failing in 2001 and
2003. She currently hosts a quiz show on the
Federal TV (FTV) and is among the most popular
television personalities in the country.
Among other names being talked about are Ružica
Čavić who
co-wrote the 2002 song Na jastuku za dvoje
and who also participated as a singer in BH
Eurosong 2001. She is a popular singer in Serbia,
where she lives. Also, Jasna

in Bosnian final
BH
Eurosong 2005 has announced today the list of 15
songs that make the line-up to be performed on

final.
The expert jury consisted of the following

The public call closes
Eighty seven songs submitted
PBSBiH
has announced today that the team has received 87
songs in total from Bosnia and Herzegovina
itself, surrounding countries and many others
from around the world. Apparently, the folks are
very satisfied with the response they received.
For comparison purposes, last year's open call,
which followed PBSBiH expert jury's choice of
Deen as the singer, resulted in 32 songs being
submitted.
The next step in the process is to choose up to
15 songs to make up the shortlist. An expert jury
is evaluating the songs received and will make
its choice public on Wednesday, January 19th.
Channel BHT1 will announce the songs at 21:40
CET, BH Radio 1 in its news program at 22:00 CET.
The official website, www.pbsbih.ba, will also have the
results up after 22:00 CET. The songs chosen are
scheduled to appear in a televised show on March
6. No details of the show have thus far been
announced, but it is safe to assume that it will
be similar to the very popular BH Eurosong 2003
national final.

It's
that time of year again
Competition in Bosnia opens
Every
year around this time (or later...), PBSBiH team
decides to give us some news. Well, not much, but
it's a start. The bosses have decided to open the
competition with a few rules. Surprisingly, in
addition to publishing the guidelines for song
submission, a complete set of contest rules has
also been made public.
For 2005, one big change - authors who are not
Bosnian are allowed to send songs in. From In a
corresponding flip to previous years, the singers
will have to be Bosnian. The authors will
maintain the right to recommend the singers, but
PBSBiH does hold the power of veto.
The usual rules are present as well: songs must
be 3 minutes or shorter, must be for a solo
artist or a group of performers up to six, must
be original and must follow "contemporary
trends in popular music."
All the authors interested, in addition to their
full contact information, must send a demo of the
complete song on CD or tape, a copy of the lyric
as well as sheet music for piano, by January 17,
2005 at 17:00, to:
JAVNI RTV SERVIS BIH
Redakcija BH EUROSONG 2005
Bulevar Meše Selimovića 12
71000 Sarajevo
Bosna i Hercegovina
Now, about the organizational rules. PBSBiH will
organize the competition named "BH Eurosong
2005." Those authors whose songs get chosen
and who are not from Sarajevo will see their
expenses of staying in the city paid by PBSBiH
(not including travel from and to). As well, all
shortlisted authors and performers will be
equally compensated for their work.
A jury will be formed to choose up to 15 songs to
be performed at BH Eurosong 2005. The winner will
be chosen by combined votes of a jury and the
public. The authors, performers and up to two
additional persons, as part of the delegation,
will be compensated for the transporation and
stay in Kiev, Ukraine.
For the complete set of rules, visit http://www.pbsbih.ba/eurosong2005.html - for the full version in
English, you will have to get in touch with those
responsible:
