Tinka meets Swiss Ambassador

Friday, March 10 in the Swiss embassy in Sarajevo, the Swiss Ambassador His Excellency Urs Breiter, welcomed Tinka, before her performance at Eurovision, where she will, as a Bosnian and Herzegovinian, represent Switzerland.

"Ambassador Urs Breiter played an excellent host in the Swiss Embassy and expressed full support for my future work. In an informal and pleasant atmosphere, we conversed about my taking part in Eurovision for Switzerland, about my work and multi-disciplined education, as well as new albums that I am working on simultaneously both in BiH and outside."

"Of course, we touched on other subjects as well, important to the development of good ties between Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina. I really enjoyed the pleasant company and the simple conversation with His Excellency Breiter."

The Bosnian-Herzegovinan Ambassador in Switzerland, Her Excellency Jasmina Pašalić was invited to attend the CD promotion of group "Six4One," which will be held in Zurich on March 16, with a grand media presence.

"At the promotion in Zurich, my wish is to bring attention to Bosnia and Herzegovina as well, namely to the fresh and positive ways which many people outside of BiH are not aware we posses. The image of our country, generally in the world, is not at the level which we could have. So, it is my honor to, through my performance and my art and education, show that Bosnia and Herzegovina has also many more beautiful and cultured things than those damaging ones that we're unfortunately most known for."

At the promotional event, in addition to the performance of "If We All Give A Little" by Six4One, Tinka will present her new song from the foreign album, "Time To Fall In Love Again."

Tinka National like Céline Dion

Our famous singer Tinka Milinović till now is the only Bosnian singer to be invited to represent another country at the most important European light music festival, to be held in Athens in 2006.

At BH Eurosong 2006, this time, Tinka Milinović will not be a competitor, but instead, in full brilliance, she will perform at the glamourous musical event in Athens as a representative of Switzerland, just like Céline Dion in 1988, somewhere at the beginning of her career, represented this country at the competition in Dublin, singing "Ne partez pas sans moi," with which she had won.

Sexy master of solo singing, who breaks all stereotypes, was invited this year to defend the colors of the country in whose city of Lugano 50 years ago, the first Eurovision Song Contest took place. That year, Switzerland took the first victory, and thanks to breaking of borders in music and lead by quality of vocals, and not national opportunities as, some think, is the case in Bosnia, Switzerland was again, in 1988 the winner, thanks to Canadian Céline Dion. Who knows, maybe our Tinka, together with other members of the group from Switzerland, Malta, Portugal, Sweden and Israel, fifty years after the first European festival of light music, will help Switzerland to win the third Grand Prix.

"The idea was very appealing, exciting and original to me. I'm representing Switzerland as one of six singers from different parts of Europe, and we, as representatives of six different culture, are working with combined powers to realize something beautiful and successful. In any case, music is an international tongue. Six people of different ethnic, religious, societal and cultural origins came together, just like it's the case with Switzerland, where people of different cultures live and where four official languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh function together. I am pleased, because in that kind of surrounding I can learn many things," says Tinka, adding that she is at the same time beyond happy, but also disappointed that she will not officially represent her own country.

"Four times in a row, I have competed to be the Bosnian representative at Eurosong, with different songs and stage performances. I had a great desire to represent my country every time I entered the competition. This desire still exists. Last year only a little bit was needed to win, and with the same team who is also behind this year's song we're singing for Switzerland - composer Ralph Siegel and lyricist Bern Meinunger. Unfortunately, I did not win. So, I've presented myself in various editions, but, obviously the organizers did not want me or I was not good enough or interesting enough to them. Looks like only the Bosnian audience noticed me, voting by telephone, but that was not enough," she says, appearing still a little hurt, but not remaining unnoticed in other parts of Europe.

It seems hard for her to hide the excitement about the fact that she will take part in the most important musical festival of the Old Continent:

"Casting, to which only a handful of talented European performers were invited, chosen by the Swiss TV (SFD-RS) and the German music producer Ralph Siegel, was held in Munich at the Olympia Studios and lasted three days. The organizers and producers from the Swiss TV, representatives of SonyBMG and Ralph Siegel in the end chose the best six. They sought singers with strong vocal abilities, but also interesting personalities, which, as they said, they got."

In the past month, depending on the engagements in Sarajevo, she could often be found in Munich, recording the song with the other singer in the Olympia Studios. Along with rehearsals and arrangements linked to the performance and promotion, they hang out and are getting to know each other. They've already had several photo sessions and meetings with Swiss and German journalists. She is more than pleased with the overall organization and new friends, and is eagerly awaiting the final music event.

"Everything has been thought through perfectly and the work is at a very high, professional level. Before the first departure for the studio, we were greeted with plane tickets, hotel room reservations, drivers. The details before casting nobody knew. After the six of us were chosen, the organizers told us that they found the winning combination. They didn't want a boy band or a girl band, but were looking for a blend of developed, ripe soloists, " says the only Bosnian singer to be invited to represent another country in Eurovision.

"If we win for Switzerland, that would automatically be a victory for Bosnia and Herzegovina as well, that is, for all the countries, from which we come from. I've already heard from a large number of Bosnians and Herzegovinians who live in Switzerland and they are very happy that they will be represented by a known face from their homeland."
