Zitilites (read: City
Lights) is the brand new album from Danish
rock icons Kashmir. Released in Denmark March
3rd 2003, the album debuted at number 1 in
the Danish album charts, reaching Gold status
within the first week at retail.
By now the album have reached Platinum
status.
Musically and lyrically Zitilites is a
sublime and deep piece of work, which
resonates with intensity and feeling. An
original and diverse album, ranging from the
chilling and alternative "Surfing The
Warm Industry" to the haunting balladry
of "The Aftermath" and the
beautiful piano driven "In The
Sand". Surfing The Warm
Industry", the first single, has
received great response at radio in Denmark
and the cool animated video was chosen by MTV
Nordic for a Fresh rotation (80 plays) the
first week. Other outstanding tracks are
"Rocket Brothers" and "Petite
Machine.
The sound on Zitilites is simple and dry, the
songs inspired by the four band members
thoughts and lives in Copenhagen. The album
is mixed in Sawmills Studio, Bodmin Pill
Creek, Cornwall, by the band themselves and
British John Cornfield (Stone Roses,
Supergrass, Muse, New Model Army among
others). The album is recorded with
assistance from engineers Henrik Vindeby and
Freddy Albrechtsen.
Kashmir was formed in Copenhagen ten years
ago and so far Kashmir has been the story of
a band never looking back, always taking on
new challenges and never compromising.
Kashmirs integrity is still strong and
profound. The same goes for Kashmirs
footsteps through the history of Danish rock.
Their previous album The Good
Life made the band as big as any rock
act can be in Denmark with double platinum
sales, sold out tours, six Danish Music
Grammy Awards and huge critical
acclaim.
Zitilites was released in Sweden, Norway,
Finland and Holland in the spring 2003.
Germany and Austria are releasing August 11th
and other European countries will follow
later this year. Kashmir is nominated for
Best Nordic Act at the MTV Europe Awards on
November 6th 2003. Kashmir will play live
dates throughout Europe 2003.
