The
Player |

Shall be a

May play for a
country other than their own, but is
expected to have a broad knowledge of the
local scene. All are expected to
research before attempting this
challenge. |

their selection public until it is
revealed to all in the game. |

Shall submit all
required (song lyric + translation) and
optional (artist and songwriter info,
song background) information by the
designated deadline. |

If there is more
than one player per country, each player
shall designate their primary country and
two secondary countries. The players
shall play for their primary country in
order rotating with their first secondary
country. When the primary and the first
secondary countries are not available,
the player shall play for their second
secondary country. |

A player may not
designate as primary or secondary any
country that is not their native country
and which also has a regular player
currently. When a new player joins
Worldbeat, any player who has the new
player's country designated as primary or
secondary shall no longer be able to
designate it as such and shall select a
new country as a replacement in future
editions. |

The Song |
| a |
Shall have been
released in 2007, 2008 or 2009. |
| b |
Shall be original
or a cover of a song from the same
country. Covers of songs from former
republics of SFRY and USSR are not
considered foreign for those countries,
provided the original was released before
1991. |

There shall be no
restrictions on language or length of the
song. |
| d |
Original lyric is
required; include any language-specific
symbols and transliterate into Latin
script. Each player shall be allowed one
exception per every 10 editions. |

English translation
is required. Each player shall be allowed
one exception per every 10 editions. |

Eurovision songs
and national final songs (including
covers) are not eligible for entry. |

Players are
discouraged from entering international
hits. |

The
Artist(s) |
| a |
Shall be a
significant part of the local scene, i.e.
the artist is from the same political,
linguistic or cultural area and regularly
releases records there; see 2c. |

Artists featured in
editions 53 through 58 are not eligible
for entry in Worldbeat 59. |
| c |
Players are
encouraged to send info on the artist and
the songwriters (and background on the
song). Do not send pictures, but
links are encouraged. |

| 4 |
Voting |
| a |
All active players
shall vote by giving 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10
and 12 points to their top 7 songs; when
there are 14 or more entries in a given
semifinal or the final, ESC-style voting
is used (1-8, 10, 12 for top 10 songs).
Players may not vote for their own song. |
| b |
Votes shall not be
made public before final results are
online, but shall be sent to eurobosnia
(at) hotmail.com or through the voting
form on main page of current edition. |
| c |
Votes shall only be
accepted 92 hours (4 days) after each
semifinal is open; see rule 5a. |
| d |
Votes must be
received by the designated deadline. If
there is a problem, let me know in
advance. When players do not notify the
organizer in advance and fail to vote,
they shall be barred from participating
in two (2) following editions. |

Two public juries
in each semifinal and the final shall be
assigned, each consisting of same number
(±1) of passive players and observers.
When there are fewer than 6 public voters
in total, only one jury shall be formed. |

In case a player
does not vote, the first public vote that
does not include points for the player's
song shall be used in the player's place.
When all public votes include points for
the player's song, the public votes
received first shall be used. |

| 5 |
General |
| a |
Within 4 days
following opening of each semifinal,
players may point out facts - publicly or
by e-mailing the organizer - that may
disqualify entries for failing to comply
with rules under 2 and 3 above. After 4
days, no entry or player shall be
penalized for breaking these rules. |
| b |
The game shall be
split into two semifinals. When there are
fewer than 27 entries, there shall be no
semifinals. |
| c |
Top 7 of each semi
advance to the final; in semis with 15 or
more countries, top 8 advance to the
final. |
| d |
Ties in the
semifinals are not broken; all songs
finishing in top 7 (8) qualify for the
final. |
| e |
Ties for first
place in the final are not broken and all
songs are proclaimed winners. |
| f |
Number of country
preselections is set at maximum of four
per edition. |
| g |
All concerns of regularity
and compliance to the rules (other than
rules 2 and 3) shall be brought solely to
the organizer's attention via e-mail. |
| h |
All errors with song files,
lyric and info pages shall be brought
solely to the organizer's attention via
e-mail. |
| i |
All rule suggestions and
criticisms shall be brought solely to the
organizer's attention via e-mail. No
forum discussion unless initiated by the
organizer. |

The organizer
reserves the right to refuse any
selection and request another or remove
the country/player from the current game. |
