Born on the 29th of October 1954 in Rotterdam. At the age of 14 she gets a record deal but none of her singles becomes a hit. At the age of 20 she finally gets a break when she is chosen to be a backing singer during a tour for Patricia Paay (a very popular singer at that time).

In 1976 she finally scores a big hit with her single "The Aalternative Way" in the same year she releases her debut-album which is certified platinum. In the same year she wins the Dutch equivalent of a grammy for best newcommer. She keeps on scoring several hits but she scores her biggest hit 1981 when her single Why Tell Me Why becomes a #1 hit and stays on top of the chart for six weeks. After this she keeps on scoring hits but none of her singles reaches the same amount of succes as Why Tell Me Why.

In 1988 she is the first female singer to sell out the AHOY stadium in Rotterdam and in 1989 she does the same trick again but now she does it three times in a row. This year she has been scoring hits for 25 years and that she is one of the Netherlands best singers is proven by the fact that she was voted best female singer 10 times in the last 25 years.
